Fire Alert: Red Flag Conditions In Prescott Basin

According to Wildland Division Chief, Duane Steinbrink, weather conditions over the past several days throughout the Prescott Basin have precipitated Extreme/or Red Flag conditions.

"The continuing drought conditions have resulted in severely stressed brush which has created an early high risk potential for a large fire event," explained Steinbrink.

Steinbrink added that no Burn Permits will be issued until significant moisture has been received. "There's also no smoking outside of vehicles and no open campfires."

Prescott National Forest, Central Yavapai Fire District, and Prescott Fire Department will be initiating Stage I fire restrictions May 14, 2008 at 0800 hours.
