General Information
Prescott's legislative body consists of one Mayor and six City Council members who are elected at large. The Mayor serves a two-year term and Council members serve overlapping four-year terms.
The next election cycle at which a Mayor and Council members will be elected is in 2009 on the following dates.
Primary Election 09/01/2009 (Official Canvass)
Primary Election 09/01/2009 (sample ballot) - General Election 11/03/2009
The Official Canvass of the Primary Election held September 1, 2009, is provided above. At the Primary Election, Mayor-Elect Marlin Kuykendall was elected Prescott's new Mayor and will take office at the end of the Regular Voting Meeting on November 24, 2009.
Based on the Primary Election results, the names of the following candidates will be placed on the ballot for the three seats of Councilman at the General Election scheduled for November 3, 2009:
- Bell, Bob (WITHDRAWN)
- Blair, Steve
- Hanna, John
- Linn, Tammy
- Luzius, Robert
- Peters, Michael Allen
On September 15, 2009 Councilman Bell withdrew his nomination to be on the General Election ballot; therefore, there will only be five candidates listed on the ballot.
Additionally, on September 21, 2009 Paul Katan filed as an official Write-In Candidate for the General Election.
Also on the ballot will be the following propositions:
- 400 - Expenditure Limitation (Home Rule)
- 401 - Taxpayer Protection Initiative
Please visit our site around the first of October to view a copy of the Publicity Pamphlet which includes information on these propositions, along with sample ballots.
