On the heels of numerous high profile community and staff meetings on the creation of a sewer policy for Prescott's unsewered areas, Mayor Jack Wilson proposed forming an advisory committee to be chaired by former City Councilman Marlin Kuykendall. He was backed unanimously by council at Tuesday's study session.

The committee is tasked with looking for "innovative and affordable ways of getting the homes on city sewer." They will also work with the Yavapai County Health Department in an effort to determine whether or not the current septic systems pose a pollution challenge.

The committee will be comprised of residents from the four high-priority areas. That group, along with Michael Byrd of the Prescott Creeks Preservation Association, will be joined by Councilwoman Lora Lopas acting as council liaison.

Although public meetings are planned, they have not yet been scheduled.
