Prescott to Host National Fast-pitch Softball Championship Series

The ASA Men's Senior's 50-Over Fast-Pitch National Championship will be conducted September 25-27 at Heritage Park, Bill Vallely (Roughrider) and Ken Lindley diamonds. Action will commence Friday at 5:00pm at all three fields with the championship game scheduled for Sunday September 27 at noon and will be played at Ken Lindley Field.

This tournament will feature some of the best teams that men's senior fast pitch has to offer. Teams from Arizona, California, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and Washington will be competing in this tournament.

Two local Prescott teams the Prescott Patriots and Michael Rhines Drywall will serve as host teams. Local players on the Prescott Patriots team include Lonnie Brooks, Paul Rubin, Larry Stephan, Mike Fisher and Rick Rickman. The Prescott Patriots will have Ronnie Rupp from Long Beach Ca. and Lonnie Brooks of Prescott sharing the pitching duties. Lonnie Brooks just came back from a Masters West World Series 50-Over tournament that was held in Carson City Nevada on September 18-20. He finished the tournament with a pitching record of 4 wins and 1 loss and had the lowest ERA for the tournament and made First Team All World. Michael Rhines Drywall has the Hanna Brothers John and Dave, Mike Hodges and Albert Mendibles Sr. playing. The third team from Arizona is Tri-R Classics from Phoenix, AZ. A majority of the players for Tri-R Classics used to play on the Paddock Pools team from Phoenix and include Steve Hardesty, Ed Fletcher, Mark Ruckle, Eric Crocker and pitcher Dennis Stillwell.

Harolds Supermarkets of Lexington Missouri won the Men�s Senior�s 50-Over Fast Pitch National in 2008 and will be here to defend their title. Airtronics of Galt, Ca. placed second in last year�s championship under the name of United Sports Academy and will be once again be vying for the first place trophy. Other out of town teams include Texas Stars and Geo-Per both from Houston Texas, Savala Painters from Long Beach, Ca., Seattle Fastpitch of Wa., Ohio Battery of Ashland, Montana Big Sky, N.W. Old Growth of Portland Or., and Metros of Des Moines, Ia.

Games will be played at Heritage, Bill Vallely, and Ken Lindley on Friday September 25th at 5:00pm, 7:00pm and 9:00pm and the action continues Saturday September 26th with games beginning at 8:00am and continuing every two hours with the last game of the day scheduled for 8:30pm at Ken Lindley field. Championship play will conclude at Ken Lindley Field on Sunday September 27 beginning at 8:00am with the "championship" game being played at noon.

Opening ceremonies will take place on Friday at Ken Lindley at 2:30pm with first pitch of the tournament happening at 5:00pm. All games are open to the public with no admission fee.
