On March 27, 2010 at approximately 0632 hours Officer Doug Hawk was dispatched to the area of Overland Trail and Gurley Street, where Officer Hawk found female victim Kathleen Masters lying on the ground unresponsive with her walker next to her. Ms. Masters did not have a pulse, was cold to the touch, and had a pale face. Officer Hawk immediately began CPR until the Prescott Fire Department arrived on the scene and was in a position to take over her care. EMS personnel on the scene were able to establish a heart beat and the victim was transported to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center. Had it not been for Officer Hawk, Ms. Masters would have died at the scene.

At yesterday's city council meeting, Chief Mike Kabbel read the following presentation: "Officer Hawk, on behalf of the Prescott Police Department, I commend you for your quick life saving action and for embracing our core values of integrity, courage, accountability, respect and excellence!"
