Public Library Announces Brief Service Disruption

Monday, May 24, 2010

There will be disruptions in PPL's service while the Yavapai Library Network upgrades from its antiquated integrated library system. From June 25 to June 30, Prescott Public Library will be experiencing some delays and disruptions in service. The current system, which is used to check out books, maintain records and more, was purchased in 1993 and it is time to move on to a 21st century system.

Be sure to bring your library card with you when visiting the library, it will help library staff and minimize inconvenience to you. During this change the library will stay open to fill your library needs, and Ask a Librarian staff will do their best to help you find what you are looking for. Customers will still be able to check out and renew library materials. Again though, remember to bring your library card with you when visiting the library, as you will not be able to check items out or use a computer without it

During these few days, staff will not be able to place or fill holds on library materials. Most electronic resources, including OverDrive, the library catalog and Heritage Quest will not be available from home . Feel free to come use the library computers — just remember to bring your library card so you can sign in!

Many electronic resources- including the Auto Repair Reference Center, Consumer Reports and the World Almanac- will still be available via databases provided by the Arizona State Library. Just go to the Prescott Public Library home page www.prescottlibrary.info, click on Research, then on AZ Statewide Databases in the A-Z List. All you need to login is an Arizona zip code!

July 1 should see the new Yavapai Library Network up and running. Please bear with us while the change is in progress (June 25-30) and in early July as we fine-tune ourselves and the new software.

Prescott Public Library is located at 215 E Goodwin in Downtown Prescott, and the Prescott Gateway Branch is at the Gateway Mall between Barnes and Noble and Sears.
