Saturday, June 01, 2013

The City of Prescott is pleased to announce its recent hire of Pete Wertheim, who will be the new communications and public affairs manager. He will begin his new role on June 24.

Wertheim will be responsible for communications between the public and local government. This includes media relations, the development and use of the city's website, social media, Access Channel 13, newsletters, print publications, and more. He will be leaving his position as the vice president of strategic communications for the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association.

"Pete brings a wealth of experience and he will be a valuable addition at a time when the City is looking to enhance communications and community outreach," said City Manager Craig McConnell. "He has a strong background in media relations, communications, and intergovernmental affairs that will be an important asset for us moving forward."

"This is a tremendous honor and I am excited about the opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to communications at the City of Prescott," said Wertheim. "I look forward to connecting with all of the residents, businesses, community groups and my fellow employees."

Prior to working for the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association, Wertheim worked as the government & public affairs officer for IASIS Healthcare, the chief legislative liaison for the Arizona Department of Health Services and the intergovernmental affairs coordinator for the City of Peoria, Arizona. He also spent five years working at the Arizona House of Representatives as a majority research analyst and policy advisor on budget issues and healthcare.

Wertheim has lived in Arizona for nearly 30 years and holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northern Arizona University.
