Division Chief Eric Kriwer Named Acting Fire Chief

The City of Prescott has named Division Chief Eric Kriwer Acting Fire Chief effective immediately. He will serve in this capacity until the recruitment process and selection of a permanent Fire Chief have been completed.
City Manager Craig McConnell said, "The Prescott Fire Department has many talented firefighters, captains, engineers, battalion chiefs, and division chiefs who have always, and will continue, to step up during times of change. Eric's leadership and professional background will be invaluable during this critical transition period. He is strongly committed to the success of the Prescott Fire Department and we are confident in his ability to work through the challenges ahead."
"My primary objective is to bring stability to the Prescott Fire Department during this transition and make sure we continue our mission of providing excellence in service to the citizens of Prescott," said Kriwer.
Chief Kriwer worked as the Prescott Fire agency administrator to the Incident Management Team assisting in providing direction during the memorial and planning for the funeral services of the Granite Mountain Hot Shots Fallen 19 during the Yarnell Hill Fire.
Chief Kriwer has worked for the Prescott Fire Department for seven years. He began his fire service career in 1988 serving in Fountain Hills, Arizona. During Chief Kriwer's 25-year fire service career, he has served in multiple positions from firefighter, paramedic, battalion chief, fire marshal to assistant chief. Chief Kriwer has worked in the communities of Fountain Hills, East Mesa, Mayer, and Scottsdale.
He holds an Associate's Degree in Fire Science, a Bachelors Degree in Business Management, and is a 2011 graduate of the Executive Fire Officer program from the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
