Construction Projects
The City of Prescott is continually working to modernize and improve the facilities at the airport. A major part of funding for most aviation-related projects is the federal Airport Capital Improvement Program (ACIP). This program allows for federal funds to cover up to 90% of the total cost of all authorized projects. In some cases the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT Aeronautics Division) will contribute 5% towards eligible projects.
Recent Projects
- Fuel Facility Expansion (Spring 2000)
The U.S. Forest Service provided funding for a 20,000-gallon Jet A fuel storage tank. Installed into the airport fuel facility, this project provides the emergency generator at the Forest Service an uninterrupted source of fuel when needed. The total storage capacity for Jet A fuel doubled to 40,000-gallons with this project. Funding source: U.S. Forest Service. - Runway 21R Drainage Reconstruction (Summer 2001)
The drainage ditches and safety areas between Runway 3L-21R and Taxiway Alpha were reconstructed to improve the drainage and safety areas between Runway 3L-21R and Taxiway's Alpha and Charlie. This project involved moving approximately 350,000 cubic yards of dirt and opened up 7 acres of developable land along Melville Road. Funding Source: FAA & City of Prescott. - North Ramp & Echo Hangar Ramp (Fall 2001)
The North Ramp aircraft parking apron received an asphalt overlay, new stripping and tie down chains. The Echo Hangar ramp was reconstructed to improve storm water drainage away from the hangars. Funding Source: Arizona Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division. - Airline Terminal Parking Lot (Fall 2002)
The parking lot of the airline terminal received a 3-inch asphalt overlay, new stripping and signage. Landscaping improvements were made at the entrance to improve aesthetics. Funding Source: Arizona Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division. - Bottleneck Hangar Construction (Fall 2002)
