Deputy Chief of Police Michael Kabbel

Mike Kabbel was appointed Chief of the Prescott Police Department on September 20th, 2009. He is a trained, experienced law enforcement administrator, public speaker, facilitator and instructor.

During his 24 years of progressive law enforcement experience, Mike has been involved in a broad spectrum of assignments with the Arizona State University Department of Public Safety, Tempe Police Department Narcotics Task Force and the University of Texas at San Antonio Police Department. During his 19 years with the Prescott Police Department, Mike has been involved in all facets within the Department. While Mike was the Deputy Chief, he managed both the Support and Operations Divisions of the Police Department.

As Police Chief, Mike is responsible for overall leadership and management of the Police Department, ensuring the highest level of professionalism of police service which is responsive to the concerns and expectations of the community. He oversees the Office of the Chief and three Bureaus, which are lead by Lieutenants: the Administrative Services Bureau, Patrol Bureau, and Special Operations Bureau. He handles interactions with the community and establishes mission goals and objectives, striving to equip the department with the latest technology and tools to deliver the best possible law enforcement services to the community.
